Three bets carry live baccarat: Player, Banker and Tie. They look close, but their baccarat odds are not, and the gap decides what each round costs you. The figures below come from Pragmatic Play’s own Live Baccarat game help, which sets out the payouts and the theoretical return for each bet. Your table in the lobby’s Live game section may differ, so use the live casino table basics as the map and the table’s rules panel as the final word.

Baccarat odds on the three main bets

Pragmatic Play’s help text pays Player 1 to 1, Banker 0.95 to 1 and Tie 8 to 1. It lists a theoretical return for each, and 100 minus that return is what the house keeps.

BetPaysReturn / house edge
Banker0.95 to 198.94% / 1.06%
Player1 to 198.76% / 1.24%
Tie8 to 185.64% / 14.36%

Banker is the cheapest bet on the table even though it pays less per win. It wins more often than Player, and that is why the house takes a commission on it.

Over 100 rounds at ₱100 a round, the averages put the cost at about ₱106 on Banker, ₱124 on Player and ₱1,436 on Tie. Those are long-run averages and a single session can swing far from them, but they rank the bets honestly.

Baccarat payout: what the Banker commission does

The help text states a 5 per cent commission on a winning Banker bet, which is why Banker pays 0.95 to 1. Work it through with a clear example: a winning ₱1,000 Banker bet returns a ₱950 profit, where the same Player bet returns ₱1,000. The ₱50 gap is the commission.

Even after the commission, the edge on Banker (1.06 per cent) is lower than on Player (1.24 per cent). Banker pays less per win yet returns more overall, so it must win more of the rounds. The drawing rule behind that advantage is set out in the baccarat third card rule table.

The baccarat tie bet

A tie bet pays 8 to 1 when both hands finish on the same total. To break even at 8 to 1, the tie must land once in nine rounds, because 1 win at 8 plus 8 lost stakes cancels out, and 1 in 9 is 11.11 per cent of rounds. A tie stake returns the stake plus 8 on a win, so 9 units back per win, and 85.64 divided by 9 gives about 9.5 per cent of rounds. That is below the 11.11 per cent mark, and the bet costs 14.36 per cent of every stake over time.

On a ₱100 tie stake, the average round returns ₱85.64 and costs ₱14.36. Player and Banker stakes are pushed on a tie in that rule set, so those bets neither win nor lose when it lands.

Side bets cost more than the main bets

The same help text prices the pair side bets. A few of them, as listed:

Side betPaysReturn
Player Pair11 to 189.64%
Either Pair5 to 186.29%
Perfect Pair25 to 186.97%

Each one costs at least 10 per cent, against about 1 per cent for Banker. The blackjack 21+3 side bet pay table is priced at 3.70 per cent, so a baccarat pair bet is the more expensive of the two.

Check the baccarat payout before you stake

  1. Open the table’s Bet Limits and Payouts window and read the Banker row; 0.95 to 1 means a 5 per cent commission applies.
  2. Check the Tie payout against the 8 to 1 used above; a lower figure raises the 14.36 per cent cost.
  3. Pick a stake from your own limits using the bet unit meaning for sizing.
  4. Stay on Banker or Player if cost per round matters most to you.

FAQ

Which baccarat bet has the best odds?

In the Pragmatic Play help text, Banker has the best return at 98.94 per cent, then Player at 98.76 per cent. Tie is far behind at 85.64 per cent.

Why does Banker pay 0.95 to 1 and not 1 to 1?

The 5 per cent commission is taken from a winning Banker bet. On a stake of 100 you win 95, not 100.

What happens to my Player or Banker bet on a tie?

In the same rule set, Player and Banker bets are pushed on a tie, so the stake comes back. Read your own table's rules panel to confirm.

Mas sulit ba ang Tie bet kasi 8 to 1?

Hindi. Kailangan lumabas ang tie sa isa sa siyam na round para mag-break even, pero mas madalang iyon, kaya 14.36 per cent ang gastos.
