  1. Fact 1: a boss pays more because it costs more
  2. Fact 2: every shot is a stake
  3. Fact 3: the shot count is not printed
  4. Fact 4: bigger stakes make a boss costlier, not likelier
  5. Fact 5: set the budget before the boss appears

A fishing game boss is the largest target on screen: it pays a bigger multiple than ordinary fish and absorbs far more shots before it falls. In a fish shooter you pay for every shot, so the cost of a boss is the number of shots you fire, hit or miss. This page sets out five facts, with named examples, so you can plan a session around the boss. The wider set of games sits on our PanaloKO fishing games page.

Fact 1: a boss pays more because it costs more

CQ9’s post on Hero Fishing gives ordinary fish payouts of 2X to 100X and bounties of 500X from its bosses, the Toad King and the Octopus Ruler of the Sea. Its Paradise post says there are up to six boss-level fish, including a seahorse king and a lobster warrior.

Hero Fishing (CQ9)Two bosses, 500X bounty
Paradise (CQ9)Up to six boss-level fish

Fact 2: every shot is a stake

JILI’s Mega Fishing is listed as a fish and arcade title with zero paylines, a published maximum win of 950x and an octopus wheel feature. Read our Mega Fishing figures from JILI for the row. The stake is set per shot, not per spin, so ten misses cost the same as ten hits.

Fact 3: the shot count is not printed

Neither studio prints how many shots a boss needs. Here is how to count it yourself at your lowest stake:

  1. Pick a boss round and note your balance.
  2. Fire only at the boss until it falls or leaves.
  3. Divide the balance drop by your stake to get the shots used.
  4. Repeat three times and average.

With an illustrative ₱2 stake, a boss that takes 80 shots costs ₱160. A 500X reward on one ₱2 shot is ₱1,000, but you do not hit the boss with a single shot, so compare the cost of the full kill with the reward.

Fact 4: bigger stakes make a boss costlier, not likelier

Raising your stake raises what each shot costs and what a hit pays. It does not make the boss easier to hit. At ₱10 a shot, the same 80 shots cost ₱800.

Stake per shot80 shots cost
₱1₱80
₱2₱160
₱10₱800

The shot count of 80 is an example, not a figure from any studio. Replace it with the number you counted in Fact 3.

Fact 5: set the budget before the boss appears

The boss arrives mid-session, when excitement is highest, which is the worst moment to decide. Fix the number first, using the idea explained under bankroll management and what it means: set what is at risk beforehand and stop at that figure.

Boss fights also pair with auto shooting, which spends faster than you expect. Read how in our fishing game auto shoot explainer. Examples of named bosses are on the Hero Fishing page.

FAQ

What is a boss in a fishing game?

A boss is a rare, large target that pays more than ordinary fish and takes more shots to bring down. CQ9's Hero Fishing post names the Toad King and the Octopus Ruler of the Sea as its bosses.

Do I pay if I miss a boss?

Yes. A fish shooter charges a stake for every shot, hit or miss, which is the main difference from a slot spin.

How many shots does a boss need?

CQ9's and JILI's pages print no shot count for a boss. Watch the health bar for a few rounds at your lowest stake and count.

Paano ko maiiwasan ang sobrang gastos sa boss?

Magtakda ng budget bago maglaro at huminto kapag naabot na. Huwag habulin ang boss gamit ang mas malaking stake.
